To mark the 25th anniversary of the Excelsior Trust, Chairman Geoffrey Copeman has launched a major appeal, with the aim of raising over £35,000 which could be doubled by matched funding.
The Trustees hope to attract donations from businesses and individuals, to help preserve a unique part of the history of Lowestoft, so that traditional seafaring skills can continue to be practiced on the East Coast, and disadvantaged youngsters can continue to benefit from the life-changing experience that a passage aboard “Excelsior” provides. The money raised will fund essential on-going maintenance and refurbishment work; spars, sails, engine and ancillary equipment all need attention. Keeping “Excelsior” in an authentic and environmentally sympathetic condition is an expensive business. No matter how large or small, all donations will be gratefully received. As a token of the Trust’s appreciation, donors of £20 or more will receive a special Anniversary Appeal Certificate. Donations should be sent to: 25th Anniversary Appeal Excelsior Trust Harbour Road Oulton Broad Lowestoft Suffolk NR32 3LY If you are not already a Trust Supporter, then please consider joining as a Friend or Governor, so that you can continue to stay in touch, and enjoy our programme of social and sailing activities.
